The project
Surplus Methane replacing natural gas. Surplus Methane from Borealis cracker plant in Stenungsund will be used as raw material instead of natural gas in the Perstorp Oxos plant. Today, methane gas is partly used to produce steam and the rest is burned in a flare. By compressing the gas and transport it in a pipeline to Perstorp Oxo, it can be used as raw material in the production of synthesis gas.
The assignment
We performed a basic design and have now on an EPCM basis performed Borealis part of the project. The responsibility of COWI Management has been project management, planning, procurement and site management. The assignment was conducted in partnership with COWI AB.
