Cost Calculation
Cost Calculation
COWI Management offers cost calculation work for future projects. We work both in the early stages and in phases, called Basic Design or Conceptual Design. COWI Management also performs cost calculations on different accuracy levels that are well adapted to the requirements that our customers have for making decisions.
We use recognized software and databases for cost calculations. To these tools, we add our experience from earlier projects that has given us a wealth of key figures that we can make use of. The key figures are adjusted to the project in order to provide a current and tuned cost calculation.
Methodology for cost estimates
A cost calculation is developed as more information becomes available in a project and then the information is re-used in the next phases.
The estimate for a pre-study is built up by using data from the internal experience-based databases but also standard knowledge databases.
In a feasibility study or a possibility study often a so-called estimate factor is used. To make an estimate factor it is important that all equipment is known and can be priced. An estimate factor is created using the factors and the costs of the equipment to calculate all the other costs of the project.
In a cost estimate that is the basis for an investment decision the estimates is based on a work called "bottom-up", this is the calculations based on detailed design documents and quotes on equipments.
